Jim and I went out last night to try for some shots of the full moon. I need more practice (and less clouds so I have more time to practice). But it was interesting. Here is the sunset from tonight. Moon photo follows..

This is not very good, but I am putting it up here to remember my first try at this. Things can only improve from here <grin>.

Well, it's been a few days since I added anything here. I have been reading up on other types of photography other than sunsets and nature pictures. I thought I would try my hand and something a little different, so here is my first try. I took this at Munsinger Gardens in St Cloud, MN.

And I can't help one more 'nature' type picture. My first try at a bumblebee.

I went to the Farmers Market in downtown St Cloud this morning. It is held at the Bremer Bank parking lot. There didn't seem to be a lot of vendors there, but it is early in the season yet. These flowers at one vendor were nice.

Then I went over to St Cloud State where they were having a Bus Rodeo. Transit bus drivers from all around the state were there to compete. The winners advance to the National Competition. Some photos from the rodeo follow. You can check out the St Cloud Metro Transit Commission's web site here.
This is a shot of the driver of the 'Trolley Bus' that runs in the downtown St Cloud area. He was a very nice fellow.

The bus he drives looks like an old fashioned trolley.

The bus drivers must navigate a course through various obstacles and they have a seven minute time limit to complete the course. Buses are BIG.

I had the honor of meeting the owner of the bus company. I thought I would post his photo.

One of the St Cloud drivers' wife runs a DJ Music show and provided music during the Rodeo. Some people were having fun jammin' to the tunes.

This shot gives some idea of the size of the course.

In this shot, the bus has to back into the area between the cones without touching any of them. As you can see, there is hardly any room on either side.

Another shot as a bus navigates an obstacle.

Sometimes there is a goof up or two.

The judges watch and record what happens at every obstacle.

And one final Bus Rodeo shot. Even though it is a serious event, formal attire is not mandatory.

Munsinger and Clemens Gardens are just across the river from St Cloud State. I stopped there for a few minutes on my way back. I will be going back for some sunset shots very very soon. It is a beautiful place. If you can, you should stop by. The walk by the river is wonderful.

And, if you like ducks, they have them at Munsinger Gardens also.

Jim and I took the Jeep Travel Bug I picked up yesterday to a different cache up in the Pillsbury State Forest near Pillager. We stopped at the Crow Wing State Park and got some pictures of some young Barred Owls.
Barred Owls

Here is another photo I took yesterday at Sylvan Lake. I was trying to get something that looked good with the sun in the picture. You will have to decide for yourself whether this shot is any good. I can't make up my mind.

Jul 16, 2004 - Fri
I did a little geocaching this evening. I went down by Big Lake and found a cache that had been hidden in a city park. I grabbed a Jeep Travel Bug but didn't run into any good spots for pictures. If you want to know more about the Jeep geocaching contest click here. I took a picture of my Jeep in the parking lot, so that's what you'll have to look at for today.
