What Pro adds
Pro includes everything in Free, plus:
- Handle duplicates — skip, rename, overwrite, or move them to a duplicates folder (by file name or exact file contents)
- Handle missing EXIF dates — use the file date, or send those files to a folder you choose (separate from Google Takeout JSON sort, which stays in Free)
- Choose more preset folder layouts — Year/Month, Year only, camera-based structures, and other fixed dropdown options
- Custom folder templates — build your own path with tokens such as
{YYYY},{MM}, and{Camera} - Write recovered Google Takeout date into the file — optional; JSON-based Takeout sorting itself is already in Free
Pro handles the tougher library jobs — the options you may have just tried in the app.

1. Handle duplicates
Decide what counts as a duplicate — matching file names, or matching EXIF plus exact file contents.
Then choose what happens: skip, rename with -Copy###, overwrite, or send duplicates to a folder you pick. Overwrite replaces the destination file permanently.
2. Handle missing EXIF dates
Not every photo has a usable EXIF date taken — scans, edits, and some phone exports are common examples.
Pro can fall back to the file date for structured folders, or send those files to a folder you choose. That is separate from Google Takeout JSON sorting, which Free already includes.
3. Choose more preset folder layouts
Free covers basic date sorting. Pro adds fixed preset layouts like Year/Month, Year only, and camera-model based folders.
Pick the structure that matches how you browse — trips by month, archives by year, or cameras kept separate. Need a layout the presets do not offer? See Custom templates below.
4. Custom folder templates
Choose Output Folder Structure > Custom… and type your own pattern with tokens such as {YYYY}, {MM}, {DD}, and {Camera}.
PhotoMove builds a separate destination path for each file under your Destination folder.
5. Google Takeout date write-back (optional)
Free already sorts using Google Takeout JSON sidecar dates when EXIF is missing — on your PC, with no Google login.
Pro adds an optional step: write that recovered date into the file so other programs see the correct date taken.

After running it for ten minutes it became clear this was the tool that would help me fix years of migration from flickr / picasa / apple / google back to my own network. It reminded of a tool I found years ago that helped do something similar when I had a NAS crash and a bunch of photos had their filenames truncated.
